Day 1 : Chandigarh to Shimla
Distance: 115 km / Time: ~3.5 hours
Begin your Himachal journey with a drive from Chandigarh to Shimla, the former summer capital of British India. The road climbs steadily into pine and deodar forests as you approach this charming hill station. Upon arrival, check into your hotel and spend your evening exploring the bustling Mall Road, Ridge, and Lakkar Bazaar. Don’t miss the colonial-era architecture and the Christ Church, especially magical at sunset. Relax and acclimatize to the cool mountain air.
Day 2 : Explore Shimla & Kufri
Take a day to explore Shimla and its nearby attractions. Begin with a visit to the Jakhoo Temple, home to a towering statue of Lord Hanuman and sweeping views of the valley. Later, drive to Kufri (16 km, ~45 min), a popular spot for horse riding and panoramic views of snow-capped peaks. Visit the Himalayan Nature Park or try local apple-based treats. Day 3 : Shimla to Manali via Mandi and Kullu
Distance: 250 km / Time: ~7–8 hours
Set off on a picturesque drive from Shimla to Manali through winding mountain roads. Pass through Mandi, known for its temples and river views, and stop at Pandoh Dam and the Beas River viewpoint. Day 7 : Explore Dharamshala & McLeod Ganj
Spend your day exploring McLeod Ganj – visit the Namgyal Monastery, the residence of the Dalai Lama, and the Tibetan Museum. Day 8: Dharamshala to Chandigarh – Departure
Distance: 250 km / Time: ~6–7 hours
Wrap up your journey with a drive back to Chandigarh through charming countryside and Himalayan foothills. Along the way, you can stop for tea and local snacks in roadside villages. Arrive in Chandigarh by evening, bringing your mountain retreat to a close.
