Cochin | Munnar | Thekkady | Alleppey
ITINERARY:

Day 1 :  Arrive in Cochin (Kochi)

Arrive at Cochin International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Fort Kochi (approx. 45 km / 1.5 hours). Spend the day soaking in the colonial charm of this historic port town. Walk along the promenade to see Chinese fishing nets, explore the Dutch Palace and St. Francis Church, and wander through quaint art cafés and boutiques. In the evening, enjoy a Kathakali dance performance for an introduction to Kerala’s rich cultural heritage.

Day 2 :  Cochin to Munnar

After breakfast, drive to the scenic hill station of Munnar (approx. 125 km / 4.5 hours). En route, stop at Cheeyappara and Valara waterfalls cascading through lush greenery. Reach Munnar by afternoon and check into your hillside resort amidst tea gardens and misty mountains. Relax with sweeping views from your balcony or stroll through the local markets. The cool climate and serene ambiance offer the perfect welcome to Kerala’s highland paradise.

 

Day 3 :  Explore Munnar

Today, explore the natural and cultural highlights of Munnar. Start with a visit to Eravikulam National Park, home to the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Stop at the Tea Museum for insight into the region’s plantation history. Continue to scenic viewpoints like Top Station and Echo Point, and visit the tranquil Mattupetty Dam. Return to your resort for a leisurely evening surrounded by misty hills and perhaps a traditional Kerala dinner under the stars.

 

Day 4 : Munnar to Thekkady

Depart for Thekkady, a journey through winding roads lined with spice gardens and tea plantations (approx. 90 km / 3.5 hours). On arrival, check into a jungle-themed resort near the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. In the afternoon, explore a local spice plantation and learn about cardamom, cinnamon, and pepper cultivation. In the evening, attend a performance of Kalaripayattu, Kerala’s ancient martial art, for a dramatic and cultural end to the day.

 

Day 5 : Explore Thekkady

Begin the day with a boat cruise on Periyar Lake, offering chances to spot elephants, sambar deer, and vibrant birdlife along the banks. After breakfast, take an optional guided nature walk or bamboo rafting in the forest. Later, explore the town’s spice markets or enjoy an authentic Ayurvedic massage. The crisp mountain air and scent of spices make Thekkady a truly immersive experience in nature and wellness.

 

Day 6 : Thekkady to Alleppey – Houseboat Stay

Drive down to Alleppey, descending from the highlands to the backwaters (approx. 140 km / 4.5 hours). Board a private, traditional houseboat for an overnight cruise through the tranquil backwaters. Glide past lush paddy fields, coconut groves, and village scenes as you enjoy freshly cooked Kerala meals on board. Watch the sunset over the still waters and spend the night moored in a peaceful canal under the stars.

 

Day 7 : Alleppey to Kovalam

Disembark from your houseboat after breakfast and set out for Kovalam, a serene beach town near Trivandrum (approx. 160 km / 4.5 hours). Check into your beachside resort and unwind by the Arabian Sea. Spend the rest of the day at leisure—relaxing on Lighthouse Beach, enjoying a beachfront seafood dinner, or indulging in a traditional Ayurvedic therapy. The soft sands and soothing waves make for the perfect seaside escape.

Day 8: Day Trip to Trivandrum

Take a short drive to Trivandrum (approx. 15 km / 30 minutes) to explore the cultural capital of Kerala. Visit the magnificent Padmanabhaswamy Temple, admire the colonial-era Napier Museum, and stroll through the charming Kanakakkunnu Palace grounds. Return to Kovalam by evening for a peaceful dinner overlooking the ocean. Optional: stop by the local handicraft emporiums for souvenirs like sandalwood carvings or coir products.

Day 9: Relax in Kovalam

Spend your final full day at leisure in Kovalam. Enjoy a rejuvenating Ayurvedic spa treatment, take a yoga class, or simply soak in the sun on Hawa or Samudra Beach. You can also go for a short boat ride on the calm backwaters nearby or sample Kerala’s coastal flavors at a beachfront café. This unhurried day lets you unwind and reflect on your journey through Kerala’s diverse landscapes.

Day 10: Departure from Trivandrum

After a leisurely breakfast, transfer to Trivandrum International Airport (approx. 15 km / 30 minutes) for your onward journey. Depart with lasting memories of Kerala’s serene backwaters, misty hills, fragrant spice trails, and golden beaches—a land where nature and culture blend effortlessly.
